We Shine

by: Ben Ehmke | August 09, 2010

We came, we played, we laughed, we memorized, we grew, and we shined. This year's LCC Sports and More was another great event for LCC. As we have done before, we put on a variety sports camps and other activities tied into learning about God. Over 100 kids came to LCC Sports and More and we raised over $600 for goats for our church partners in Haiti, but that was only part of the excitement.

We had a great visit via time machine from Lego Joseph, who told us all about his story, and we were dazzled and entertained by Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Daniel.Sharach, Meshach, and Abednego Skit One of my favorite moments from the week was during the Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego skit. King Nebuchadnezzar told the people in the skit they were going to be forced to bow down and worship his idol, and one of the kids from the audience shouted, "NO!" in protest, and then other kids started to join in. I was worried we were going to have a riot on our hands. As we all chuckled in laughter, I was reminded of the faith of a child. Sometimes it's not popular to be a Christian, or to have the kinds of beliefs that we have, but God calls us all to shine like those kids, who were willing to shine without worrying about the consequences.

"Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing." - Philippians 2:14-16

troy=ps. I'll probably never be able read this verse again without seeing Troy's crazy actions to every phrase of this verse :)
